General Fabric Questions

Are all Monaluna fabrics certified-organic?

Yes, all Monaluna fabrics are certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). For more details, read our page on the benefits of organic cotton and GOTS certification.

What does "organic" fabric mean?

When we say our fabric is organic, we mean that the entire production process excludes the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and that there are no harmful chemicals, heavy metals or toxic elements used in the farming, weaving, dying or processing of the fabric. Additionally, the mills that produce our fabrics must meet strict social criteria, ensuring that the fabric is safely and ethically produced.

Do you have certificates available for your fabrics?

Yes, certificates for most of our collections are available here. Please contact us at studio@monaluna.com to request a copy of any other certificates you would like to have.

Are your dyes organic?

Our dyes are not vegetable dyes, but they do meet the organic standard, which guarantees that there are no harmful chemicals or heavy metals used in the dyes.

What sewing projects are your fabrics appropriate for?

Our poplin fabric is very versatile and works well for a variety of projects, including quilting, apparel, home decor projects like pillows and curtains, handbags and totes, etc. The high thread count gives it a nice drape and a soft, smooth hand.

Our cotton lawn is great for lightweight, gathered or pleated garments, slips, scarves lightweight curtains and summer-weight quilts.

Our canvas is ideal for more structured garments like a-line dresses and pants, hats, bags and upholstery projects.

Our knits are perfect for comfortable activewear for kids and adults, baby clothes and blankets, and accessories like headbands.

Can you help me determine how much fabric I'll need for a project?

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide this service.

Do you send fabric swatches?

We are happy to send a 4"x5" swatch of our fabrics. Just send an email to studio@monaluna.com with the print or fabric type desired and your mailing address, and we will send it to you by USPS.

Do you reprint out-of-stock designs?

In general, we only print each collection once, so our fabrics are limited editions. However, on occasion we will do a reprint, so if there's a collection or print that you'd like to see make a comeback, please let us know.

Do I need to create an account to shop on the website?

No, it is not necessary to create an account in order to make retail purchases on the website. You have the option to create an account during checkout, which will allow you to save your address information and track your order history.

What quantities can I order in as a retail customer?

We offer all of our fabrics by the yard or half-yard.

How can I pay for my order?

You can pay for your order using any major credit card or PayPal.

What shipping method should I select during checkout?

You may select whichever shipping method you prefer during checkout. By default, the site will pre-select the least expensive option available, which is generally USPS Flat Rate. For international orders, please note that only DHL and FedEx will include tracking to your destination. We will make every effort to ship via your chosen shipping method but reserve the right to ship via more economical or efficient providers as necessary.

How soon will I receive my order?

Retail orders are shipped in 2-3 business days. Exact delivery time will vary based on your location, but generally US orders will arrive in 2-3 business days and internation orders will arrive in 5-10 business days.

What is your return policy?

Monaluna will only issue refunds or exchanges in the following situations:

  • Product is received in defective condition and is reported to Monaluna within 14 days of receipt by the customer.
  • Quantity of a product received is less than the quantity ordered.
  • Product has not yet been shipped.

All other sales are final.

Wholesale Customers

How can I see wholesale pricing on the Monaluna website?

A wholesale customer account is required to see wholesale pricing in the online store. Monaluna asks all new wholesale customers to submit a wholesale customer application with their business details in order to establish their account.

I've submitted a wholesale application. When will I get an account for the online store? 

We strive to review new wholesale applications within 1 business day. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email inviting you to activate your new wholesale account on the website. If you do not receive a response to your application within 3 business days or if you need to place an order immediately, please contact us at studio@monaluna.com or 925-448-8055 for assistance.

The activation link for my wholesale account isn't working. What should I do?

If clicking on the activation link leads to an "Invalid Token" message, then the activation link has expired. Please contact us at studio@monaluna.com or 925-448-8055 to request a new activation link for your wholesale account.

If clicking on the activation link leads to a "Page Not Found" message, try copying and pasting the link from the invitation email into your browser's address bar. If this doesn't work, please contact us at studio@monaluna.com or 925-448-8055 for assistance.

I used to have a wholesale account but it's not working anymore. What happened?

Monaluna switched e-commerce platforms in the fall of 2014. As a result, we had to create new user accounts for wholesale customers, and all previous user accounts stopped working. If you believe you should have an active wholesale account but are unable to log in, please contact us at studio@monaluna.com or 925-448-8055 for assistance.

What quantities can I order in as a wholesale customer?

Unless otherwise stated, all woven fabrics are sold in 15-yard bolts and all knit fabrics are sold in 10-yard bolts.

Are there order minimums for wholesale customers?

Monaluna has the following order minimums for wholesale customers:

  • First order by new customer: 4 bolts minimum
  • All additional orders: 2 bolts minimum
  • Pattern orders: 4 per style

Orders that do not meet the stated minimums will be canceled and refunded.

What shipping methods are available for wholesale customers?

US wholesale customers should choose FedEx as the shipping option for their orders. International wholesale customers should choose DHL Express as their shipping method. NOTE: USPS Flat Rate shipping is for retail customers ONLY.

What payment methods are available to wholesale customers?

Wholesale customers can pay with any major credit card or PayPal during checkout. If you would like to pay for your order by any other method (check, wire transfer, etc.), please select the "Pre-Order" payment method during checkout and then contact us at studio@monaluna.com to arrange for payment.

How soon will I receive my order?

All wholesale fabric orders are shipped in 2-3 business days. Delivery time will vary based on your location, but generally all orders will arrive in 7-10 business days. NOTE: Any orders placed using the "Pre-Order" option will not be shipped until payment is received.
